Project Overview

Client: Metro Vancouver

Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada

Duration: 2024

Scope: An interactive installation designed to educate the public on improving air quality in residential spaces through hands-on engagement with carbon emission scenarios.

BRIEF

The Carbon Emissions Game aims to educate the public about how their daily choices impact air quality in their homes and neighborhoods. This installation showcases a house and an apartment building, common in Metro Vancouver, with swappable cards representing different lifestyle choices. Each card affects the carbon emissions of the home, either positively or negatively. For example, swapping a traditional truck card with an electric car card lowers the house’s emissions and the LED bar. This hands-on engagement allows participants to explore the effects of their choices in real time, fostering greater awareness of how they can improve air quality at home.

Considerations

  • Using sustainable and environmentally friendly materials for the build.

  • Ensuring durability to last a minimum of three years under regular use.

  • Designing the activation to be transportable in a box cube truck with a lifting tailgate or an SUV for smaller events.

  • Powering all electrical components, including the LED light bar, via standard 110v outlets.

  • Ensuring the cards and light indicators are intuitive and visually engaging for users of all ages.

Concept designs & 3d Models

Our 3D modeling process combines precision and creativity, allowing us to bring complex concepts to life in a visually compelling way. Starting with detailed client insights and sketches, our team crafts each element of the activation in a digital 3D space, refining the design to ensure structural integrity and visual impact. This process enables us to preview and perfect every detail before production, ensuring the final activation captures both the intended functionality and aesthetic. The result is a meticulously designed model that serves as a blueprint for fabrication, aligning seamlessly with the project’s vision and enhancing the viewer's immersive experience.
