7688 Electronics Design Team
Yesterday, I had the privilege of speaking to the talented 7688 electronics design team at Byrne Creek Community School. The experience was nothing short of inspiring, and it reminded me how promising the future is in the hands of this upcoming generation. Not only did I get to talk about Creative Others and my journey as a founder, but I also shared my personal story of navigating ADHD, which I discovered in my mid-30s.
What really struck me was the wealth of resources available to these students. They have access to a fully equipped metal shop, woodshop, electronics lab, and other incredible maker tools that allow them to bring their ideas to life in ways many of us only dreamed about at their age. It’s exciting to imagine the kinds of innovations and projects they’re capable of with such hands-on experience from an early stage.
The questions they asked were insightful and diverse, ranging from design details to deeper, introspective topics like how I handle failure. It’s rare to see such curiosity and courage to dig into the less-talked-about aspects of a creative career. I left feeling that the future is bright, and perhaps even a little humbled.
This new generation is definitely approaching life with a fresh perspective, challenging conventions and rethinking old ideas. Watching Mr. Cook guide them with such dedication and energy, I am confident that they’re on a path to create meaningful and impactful work.
I can’t wait to see where they’ll take it and hope I don’t end up an old fogey that can’t keep up!
