How to set up a scene to promote you and your business

We love helping people show up confidently for their brand. Whether you're filming a quick intro or prepping content for a campaign, the way you set up your scene can make a world of difference in how professional and authentic you appear. In this short guide, we break down the three key areas to focus on when setting up a video shoot for yourself and your business.

1. Hardware

Simple gear, thoughtfully used, goes a long way. All in less than $300!!!

Checklist:

  1. Neewer ring light - $130 approx

  2. Lavalier mic plugs directly into your phone - $115 approx

  3. Additional LED lights - $50 approx

  4. A camera phone - Well that depends on what you have!

2. Setup & Framing

Your space should feel intentional but not over-produced.

Checklist:

  • Mark your standng position on the floor to ensure consistency across multiple takes

  • Hide light sources from direct view of the camera to avoid distraction

  • Place ambient lights behind objects like plants for depth

  • Ensure you're visible from the waist up and include your hands in frame to communicate expressively

  • Use subtle branding, like a logo in the background, business signage, brochures, or your brand colors in the decor. This grounds your brand in the physical space.

  • Keep the environment looking natural and relevant to your business

3. Presenting Yourself

How you deliver matters just as much as what you say.

Checklist:

  • Add 10% more energy than you feel comfortable with, it compensates for what the camera dulls

  • Use hand and body gestures to bring life to your words

  • Look into the lens, or have a friend stand behind the camera so you’re making “eye contact” with a human as you speak. It'll look like you are looking into the camera and feel more natural to you.

  • Don’t use a script, have someone ask you questions and respond conversationally (e.g., “I founded Creative Others under the values of community, creativity, and integrity”)

  • If you're too stiff and it's just not vibing have a glass of wine to loosen yourself up! lol

If this feels like too much or you just want a hand getting started, hit us up. We love helping people build scenes that feel like them and ultimately grow their brand.

Let’s make you look good.

A good idea with passionate individuals behind it is what gets me going!

With training and work experience in Marketing, Event Management and Architecture along with being an International Sailing Coach for the past ten years I have been afforded the opportunity to work alongside many inspiring individuals and groups.

With this experience I came to realise my passion and strengths are within creating and building relationships as well as realizing an idea or team's potential and helping them present that potential to prospective clients both visually and verbally.

I am always looking for a challenge and for the opportunity to help an individual or team bring an idea/dream to fruition!
