Scope: Design and build a compact, portable 10×10-ft educational activation for Parkland’s Burnaby Refinery. Comprising of a branded tent, an independent 8×10 infographic backwall, and four hands-on analogue games that translate key refinery processes for children and adults.

Brief

We were commissioned to create a highly portable, family-friendly educational activation that explains how Parkland’s Burnaby Refinery turns crude feedstock into usable fuels. The modular 10×10 tented activation is anchored by an 8×8 backwall infographic printed on stretchy lycra that visually simplifies distillation, cracking and hydrotreating, and includes four tactile analogue games: Distillation Maze, Centrifuge, Molecule Size Sorter and Molecule Blocks Puzzle, each designed to demonstrate a real refining principle through hands-on play. The system is modular, and weather resistant for under-tent outdoor use but also works indoors, and it is sized to be transported by one person in an SUV.
