Project Overview

Client: Metro Vancouver

Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada

Duration: 2024

Scope: Hands-on educational installation demonstrating the importance of teamwork and interconnected actions in achieving cleaner air and climate health.

BRIEF

The Climate Action Cogs installation serves as an engaging, educational game designed to highlight the essential link between action, policy, and outcomes in improving air quality. Built with durable, sturdy gear mechanisms, this installation allows participants to rearrange magnetic cogs on the wall, discovering how different elements must work together to achieve a breathable, healthy climate. The game’s design ensures ease of use and safety, encouraging interaction from people of all ages and fostering a collaborative spirit. By illustrating that singular actions are not enough, it reinforces the need for interconnected efforts to address climate issues.

Considerations

  • Ensuring safety and durability of the magnetic gear mechanisms for long-term public interaction.

  • Communicating the roles of action, policy, and outcomes in a visually clear and engaging manner.

  • Designing the game to be accessible for a wide age range, maximizing inclusivity.

  • Creating a tactile and interactive experience that stimulates learning and retention.

  • Aligning the messaging with Metro Vancouver’s focus on air quality and environmental sustainability.

Concept designs & 3d Models

Our 3D modeling process combines precision and creativity, allowing us to bring complex concepts to life in a visually compelling way. Starting with detailed client insights and sketches, our team crafts each element of the activation in a digital 3D space, refining the design to ensure structural integrity and visual impact. This process enables us to preview and perfect every detail before production, ensuring the final activation captures both the intended functionality and aesthetic. The result is a meticulously designed model that serves as a blueprint for fabrication, aligning seamlessly with the project’s vision and enhancing the viewer's immersive experience.
