MicroCity Media Table

The Brief

We designed and built a 3D printed/Laser Etched model of the Greater Vancouver Region. This was laid on top of 9x 55” monitors displaying an animation about the past, present and future of transportation in Vancouver.

The media table was the central exhibit piece of an event called “Transport 2050” being organised by our awesome partners MRG Events on behalf of Translink. Since the event, the media table has been featured in Lego’s world-renowned “Towers of Tomorrow” exhibit and it now resides in a permanent display at Vancouver’s prestigious Science World Museum.

Tech Specs

  • 3D printed and Laser Etched model of greater Vancouver BC at a scale of 1:33,000

  • 9 x 55” Monitors spanning 12 x 7 feet in size

  • Custom fabricated steel base and wooden housing

  • 3x touch screens around the parameter where users scan the palm of their hands to activate the animation

  • 2-minute animation which includes a voiceover speaking about the past, present and future of transportation and Translink’s involvement in Vancouver, BC

The Build

We had such a rock star team working on this build, from digital programmers, 3D modellers and animators to physical craftsmen and light/sound technicians, all of which played a vital role in bringing this concept to reality.

A good idea with passionate individuals behind it is what gets me going!

With training and work experience in Marketing, Event Management and Architecture along with being an International Sailing Coach for the past ten years I have been afforded the opportunity to work alongside many inspiring individuals and groups.

With this experience I came to realise my passion and strengths are within creating and building relationships as well as realizing an idea or team's potential and helping them present that potential to prospective clients both visually and verbally.

I am always looking for a challenge and for the opportunity to help an individual or team bring an idea/dream to fruition!
