Metro Van at the PNE - Augmented Reality
Project Overview
Client: Metro Vancouver
Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada
Duration: 2024
Scope: Create an interactive AR experience wall that educates users on Metro Vancouver's water journey and facilities, accessible via a QR code and designed for both large-scale display and at-home use.
BRIEF
The AR Water Experience Wall was designed to educate and engage visitors by showcasing the journey of water within Metro Vancouver, illustrating the pivotal role Metro Vancouver’s facilities play in water treatment and distribution. Users interact with the installation by scanning a QR code, launching an AR experience that animates the wall’s visuals on their mobile devices. Additionally, a large-scale poster allows users to bring the experience home, offering an ongoing, interactive encounter with Metro Vancouver’s water journey.
Considerations
The AR content must be factually accurate, depicting the water journey and Metro Vancouver's water facilities.
The QR code should be prominently displayed and easy to scan.
The large-scale poster design should be visually appealing and AR-compatible, with scalability for effective use in smaller, home versions.
The AR experience must be optimized for various devices, accommodating different screen sizes, operating systems, and AR capabilities.

Map Design
The map design features a sleek black-and-white aesthetic with subtle accents of Metro Vancouver’s signature blue. This minimalist approach ensures the map is visually appealing and versatile, making it suitable for various home decor styles. The restrained use of color not only emphasizes key elements of Metro Vancouver’s water journey but also adds a modern touch, encouraging visitors to take the map home as a keepsake.
Process
3d Modeling
Our 3D modeling process allows us to bring complex concepts to life in a visually compelling way. Our team crafts each element of the activation in a digital 3D space, refining the design to ensure structural integrity and visual impact. This process enables us to preview every detail before production, ensuring the final activation captures both the intended functionality and aesthetic.
